Notes: It was slow going with this model Mora very disappointed in guard. The thumbgaurd hits the bridge of your hand. Not so good for this. Wood frozen solid. Hard wood. A whole lot more easy if you have something like a bucket or cloth spread out to get shavings. I split the wood hitting an old butcher knife, my chopper. I may cut top guard off Mora. Got a better curl with a sweeping motion like a slashing, more little tight curls not show well settled to bottom of hat. I will post video on my Youtube channel showing the little curls and this topic. I am happy to be starting this course. Thank you for offering it. God Bless. - Vx (picture below shows little curls better, this was before I realized I need more shavings, I would say this was about the 1/2 way point to amount shown in the hat) http://bushcraftusa.com/forum/forum.php Human Beings have Rights beyond any border
I find it good to review this document in regards to Human Rights. I know many Americans discount it as we have the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, The Deceleration of Independence, and the Rule of law to consider in regards to being a U.S.A. Citizen. Also any mention of the word UN sends many in a tail spin. But I contend that mankind and its rights does not stop at the US border. That for a modern era we need to adopt a personal code of ethics. As part of this search I have found this document and its ideas helpful. Some background is in order: "During the Second World War the allies adopted the Four Freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from fear, andfreedom from want, as their basic war aims. The United Nations Charter "reaffirmed faith in fundamental human rights, and dignity and worth of the human person" and committed all member states to promote "universal respect for, and observance of, human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or A universal declaration that specified the rights of individuals was necessary to give effect to the Charter's provisions on human rights.[2] At the time Humphrey was newly appointed as Director of the Division of Human Rights within the United Nations Secretariat.[3] The Commission on Human Rights, a standing body of the United Nations, was constituted to undertake the work of preparing what was initially conceived as an International Bill of Rights.[4] ... "The Universal Declaration was adopted by the General Assembly on 10 December 1948 by a vote of 48 in favor, 0 against, with eight abstentions: the Soviet Union, Ukrainian SSR, Byelorussian SSR, People's Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, People's Republic of Poland, Union of South Africa, Czechoslovakia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.[6][7] South Africa's opposition had been clear throughout the process. Eleanor Roosevelt attributed the abstention of the Soviet bloc nations to Article 13, which provided the right of citizens to leave their countries.[8]" Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Declaration_of_Human_Rights Universal Declaration of Human RightsPreambleWhereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world, Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people, Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law, Whereas it is essential to promote the development of friendly relations between nations, Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom, Whereas Member States have pledged themselves to achieve, in cooperation with the United Nations, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, Whereas a common understanding of these rights and freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this pledge, Now, therefore, The General Assembly, Proclaims this Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.
